The Short Version
The Daz Man joined Detour Band as the resident bassist in Nov 2022 and after an initial scramble to pick up the band’s repertoire he has enjoyed being part of a great team.
The Long Version
Started by singing along to the pianola (player piano) rolls on his parents’ knees, took up recorder in grade 4 then clarinet in grade 7. Became an apprentice musician in the Australian Army Band and served for 23 years on clarinets and saxophones. Involved in church music and so filled in on wind, vocals, drums, keys and sound. Having always been interested in it, took bass lessons for a while to help fill in the roster then one night spotted a post on the FB Musicians Wanted Brisbane page where Detour Band was looking for a bass player. The rest is history.
